Representative Kahn Kleinman engagements include:

  • Counsel to the City of Cleveland in connection with the proposed $400,000,000 development of the public-private air rights development of a new Convention Center.
  • Part of the legal and advocacy coalition that resulted in the construction of Legacy Village, the first lifestyle center in Northeast Ohio.
  • Representing the interest of condominium developer clients, our lawyers were instrumental in the preparation and passage of the 2004 Amendments to the Ohio Condominium Act, which marked the most significant legislative changes in Ohio real estate law in more than 30 years. This work included legislative drafting and testimony, and working with lobbyists of state homebuilding associations and the Ohio State Bar Association.
  • Counsel to Cleveland State University in connection with acquisition of multiple properties as part of campus expansion project.
  • Counsel to a major academic medical center in the sale of its Ohio Department of Health-licensed and Medicare and Medicaid-certified renal dialysis center.
  • Representation of numerous purchasers of licensed and certified nursing facilities in transactional and regulatory aspects of changes in ownership and operations.
  • Appointed by Cuyahoga County Prosecuting Attorney to represent common pleas court judges in actions to prohibit private judges from presiding over jury trials.
  • Successfully represented apartment building owner before Shaker Heights City Council to have green space deed restriction lifted to allow the construction of a parking lot. Representation included advocacy before Council, community and media relations, and door-to-door campaigning.
  • Kahn Kleinman attorneys have also developed Tax Increment Financing structures to provide:
    • low-cost financing of direct project costs for construction and rehabilitation of major retail centers
    • low-cost financing of direct project costs for major historic renovations
    • low-cost financing for large-scale tenant build out
    • parking to support commercial in-fill development
    • street-scape to enhance the commercial district surrounding a major redevelopment
    • public infrastructure necessary to support private redevelopment
